REHEARSING THE MUSE:
Late in August (2011), I was informed that I had been selected to perform 2 of the 3 dances I had submitted for adjudication in the "ARIZONA DANCE FESTIVAL 2011."
Beginning this has been a leap of faith—as most concerts are. It's been a while since I last performed, so getting and being in shape are issues also.
I’ll be performing a previous solo of mine, "Random Resonations," which is a challenge because of its choreographic intricacies and the energy shifts which the performer must pit against its fluidity and flow. The music is, "Vermont Counterpoint," composed by Steve Reich.
I’ll also be doing a new, rather minimalistic dance—“Angel’s Landing”—choreographed for me by Kelly Roth, of “Kelly Roth and Dancers,” based in Nevada. It is a poignant work, set to a wonderful composition by Max Richter: On the Nature of Daylight.
